Irkutsk Regional Cancer Center conducted an internal quality audit as the first step towards obtaining free quality certification.

This year Irkutsk Regional Cancer Center was included in Russian Federal project of free quality certification “The quality and safety of medical care”. Within the project 14 teams of auditors were formed from the Center’s employees, who have been working for several months with an aim to provide an independent assessment of Irkutsk Regional Cancer Center’s work according to practical references of Center of Monitoring and Clinical and Economic Inspection of State Medical Care Control Department (CMIKEE*), which is a part of Federal Service for Healthcare Surveillance (Roszdravnadzor). These proposals consist of recommendations on internal quality control and medical care safety.

In Irkutsk Regional Cancer Center, the internal auditing was divided into 4 units: organization of personnel working process; patient routing system; provision of medical services; support processes of the organization.

According to the internal auditing results, the Regional Cancer Center has shown similar results as average audits performed by Roszdravnadzor did in other medical organizations in Russia.

After the internal auditing, Victoria Dvornichenko, Head Physician, and Nadezhda Knyazyuk, project’s supervisor from CMIKEE of Roszdravnadzor, expressed their gratitude towards the employees and presented certificates of appreciation from the Regional Cancer Center.

The next step of the project is a development of detailed plan to eliminate all identified flaws in the organizational processes and medical care in order to successfully pass the audit. In case of successful Roszdravnadzor’s audit completion, the Regional Cancer Center will receive free quality certification “The quality and safety of medical care”.
