International Scientific-Practical Conference opened at the Regional Cancer Center
The International Scientific-Practical Conference "Modern technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer." has been launched today in Irkutsk. Oncologists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Omsk, Irkutsk, as well as from Germany and China came to the capital of Eastern Siberia.
- International Scientific-Practical Conference "Modern technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer," rightfully takes place at the Irkutsk Cancer Center. After all, this leading medical institution of such profile is singular not only to the Siberian Federal Region, but for the Russian Federation as well, - said the Minister of Irkutsk Region Healthcare, Oleg Yaroshenko. - This conference is the first event in the Irkutsk region, which is accredited in the framework of continuing medical education. Thus, doctors can not only increase their knowledge, but also raise their accreditation in the framework of professional education.
Oleg Yaroshenko underlined that the Irkutsk oncologists have something to show their visiting colleagues. The success of Irkutsk doctors is backed by statistics: over the past eight months of 2016, the death rate from cancer in the Irkutsk region decreased by 0.7%, and the detection of cancer in the early stages has increased by 8.5%
The minister also noted that one of the conference "cornerstones" is the participation of the Koch-Metschnikow-Forum representatives, whose main task is to promote the unification efforts of scientific, economic, political and social circles in the prevention of dangerous diseases.
- Medicine - is a craft, and the most important part of mastering it is to see how your companions by profession do certain things. That is the goal of present conference, and the entire 10-year history of fruitful cooperation between the Koch-Metschnikow-Forum and the Irkutsk Regional Cancer Center. Especially I would like to emphasize the importance of master classes, that are going to be held during the conference. These operations, which will be carried out by our colleagues, allow other participants to absorb their experience. After all, theory can be found in books, journals, the Internet, but mastering practical knowledge is possible only through contact with people who have the necessary skills - said the president of the Koch-Metschnikow-Forum, professor, foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Helmut Hahn.
However, theory has great importance - especially when we are talking about the latest developments, and information has not yet become available in books and journals.
- Our German colleagues have introduced new technologies for breast cancer treatment. They also will consult our patients suffering from this disease - and it will be very useful and interesting for us to hear their opinion, - said the chief physician of Regional Cancer Center, MD, professor Victoria Dvornichenko. - It is also very interesting to hear reports on vaccine therapy, prepared by specialists from Oncology Research Institute in Novosibirsk. They are already beginning to introduce into practice the stem cell therapy practice, and we are going to connect with the process. In addition, our colleagues from China have brought very important information - we are very interested in their methods of drug therapy. All this new knowledge will let us work even more efficiently and effectively than today.
International Scientific-Practical Conference "Modern technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer" will be going on for two days – the speakers’ presentations and practical master-classes will last from September 13th through 14th.
