    06.08.2019 13:09:55

“I am glad to welcome all participants of the International Forum “International Baikal Nippon Medical Skills” to Irkutsk land! Since 1995, medical institutions of the Irkutsk region have been actively cooperating with the largest clinics and medical centers of the Land of the Rising Sun. And all these years, Japanese doctors generously share their achievements and the latest medical technologies with their Siberian colleagues. Considering that doctors from Japan are rightfully considered world leaders in such important medical fields as ultrasound diagnostics, endoscopy and endosurgery, their experience is truly invaluable, - it has already helped to save tens and hundreds of Russian lives, ”- the Irkutsk governor Sergey Levchenko has addressed the forum participants with these words.

Moreover, the governor himself is now far from Irkutsk: he is controlling the liquidation of the floods consequences in Tulun on the spot. So, he has read out this message using video conferencing. And in the government building of the Irkutsk region, where the grand opening of the forum was held, its participants were welcomed by the deputy governor Valentina Voblikova.

“The healthcare system of Russia and its component part - the healthcare system of the Irkutsk Region - is now preparing to make a powerful leap forward. The country begins the implementation of a large-scale national project, which is called - "Health". So today, more than ever, we need the most advanced medical experience. And you, dear colleagues, are generously sharing this experience with us. You have been sharing for a number of years now - and this is paying off. So, using your experience and applying it in creative ways, the Irkutsk oncologists have advanced in ultrasound diagnostics and endoscopy. And the current International Baikal Nippon Medical Skills is covering doctors from other leading medical institutions in the Angara region”,- said Valentina Voblikova.

In fact, for about a decade now, a forum called the Japanese School of Oncology has been held annually in the walls of the Regional Cancer Center. This year it changed its name, becoming the “International Baikal Nippon Medical Skill”. This is due to the growth of the forum: now it is dedicated not only to oncology, but also to cardiology, abdominal surgery, and radiology. In addition, the “International Baikal Nippon Medical Skill -2019” is held at three venues simultaneously: at the Regional Cancer Center, at the Regional Clinical Hospital, and at the Irkutsk Diagnostic Center. And this growth is quite natural.

“Back in 2016, the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi, presented an eight-point economic cooperation plan. The first of these points was healthcare”, - said Mr. Toshiaki Kadokura, the chief consul (deputy consul general of Japan in Khabarovsk), who heads the Japanese delegation. - Russian-Japanese cooperation in the field of oncology is concentrated in Irkutsk, and it has begun about 20 years ago. And today we see how medical contacts between our countries are expanding.

Indeed, the wide geographical coverage of the Japanese delegation (Tokyo, Kagoshima, Niigata, and Tsukuba) is quite consistent with the list of Russian cities that sent their representatives to the forum in Irkutsk (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and many others.)

Over the three days of The International Baikal Nippon Medical Skills, dozens of the most modern and relevant medical reports will be read. A number of workshops will illustrate the application of this information in practice. In addition, a series of important meetings will be held within the framework of the forum on the Russian health care system, including the participation of the chief oncologist of the Russian Ministry of Health, the president of the Oncologist Association of Russia, academician of the RAS Andrei Kaprin and the deputy chief surgeon and endoscopist of the Ministry of Health Yuri Starkov. By the way, today the first expert meeting on “The basic issues of organizing cancer care for the population of the Siberian Federal District” has already taken place.
