«Vostock» academic conference held in Irkutsk

This year, «Vostock» conference was held for the fourth time. Previously it was conducted in Khabarovsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Vladivostok and at last, it took place in Irkutsk. It has become a tradition to present the most interesting and relevant reports from world conferences and symposia of the passing year. Members of Russian clinical oncology society from Moscow and Saint Petersburg visit them specifically to obtain and share the information with their colleagues, who could not attend the conference. The main objective of the conference was chemotherapy.

- Our meetings provide an outlook on the most interesting materials and highlights of our specialization. This information helps the participants to understand what can be implemented in their further clinical practice. Also, «Vostock» conference participants have a possibility to look into future technologies and prepare for tomorrow’s practices, said chairman of Russian clinical oncology society, assistant director for academic work FSI «N.N. Blokhin RCRC», MD, professor Sergej Tyulyandin.

The head physician of Regional Cancer Center, MD, professor, Victoria Dvornichenko has shared the Irkutsk approach to medical skill development and transfer of relevant medical information:

- At the beginning of august we have created the International Center for the Transfer of Innovative Medical Technologies at the base of our dispensary, when we signed an agreement with German, Korean, and Chinese colleagues, and also with Russian medical academia of continuing professional education. Furthermore, the first scientific-practical conference, conducted within the framework of the new center, had leading specialists of more than 10 countries: from USA to Australia. All of them have introduced their experience in hyperthermic chemotherapy to our doctors, which is successfully used in ovarian and colorectal cancers treatment.
