  • Department of x-ray and surgery (x-ray guided surgery) methods of treatment

    Activities:

    The department started its work in 2009. Here, up to 800 intravascular and extravascular, minimally invasive interventions of various locations are carried out every year. Diagnostics, embolizations, and medical procedures are performed.

    Achievements:

    The department specializes in the following interventions:

    Diagnostic procedures:
    • Aortography
    • Cerebral angiography
    • Angiopulmonography
    • Celiacography
    • Mesentericography
    • Renography
    • Pelvic angiography
    • Extremity angiography
    • Coronary angiography
    • Cavography of the inferior vena cava
    • Cholangiography
    • Fistulogram

    Embolization:
    A standard angiographic manipulation is performed in the scope of embolization, chemoembolization, occlusion of the pathological focus.
    Image fusion technology in embolization:
    - CT image fusion in hepatic artery chemoembolization
    - CT image fusion in chemoembolization of the uterine arteries
    - CT image fusion in carotid arteries embolization in chemodectoma
    - CT image fusion in renal artery embolization in kidney cancer
    - CT image fusion in chemoembolization of the gastroduodenal artery in pancreatic cancer
    - MRI image fusion in chemoembolization of vesical arteries in case of bladder tumor.

    Procedures:
    • Endovascular occlusion of vessels in uterine bleeding, in gastroduodenal artery and renal artery bleeding, and in bleeding from the basin of the vesical arteries;
    • Endovascular occlusion of the uterine arteries in combination with chemoinfusion and chemoembolization in malignant tumors of the cervix and body of the uterus;
    • Chemoembolization of the hepatic artery in primary liver tumors and metastases of colorectal cancer;
    • Preoperative or palliative chemoembolization of the gastroduodenal artery in tumors of the head of pancreas;
    • Chemoembolization in bladder cancer;
    • Selective chemoembolization in cancer of a solitary kidney;
    • Vena cava filter placement;
    • Endovascular embolization of benign soft tissue formations;
    • Preoperative devascularization of cerebral meningiomas;
    • Percutaneous sclerotherapy of soft tissue hemangiomas;
    • Coronary stenting;
    • Stenting of peripheral and visceral arteries;
    • Installation of peripheral implantable catheters;
    • Percutaneous external and internal cholangiodrainage;
    • CT guided diagnostic punctures;
    • Drainage of postoperative fluid accumulations;
    • Radiologic-assisted gastrostomy.

    Scientific directions:

    In 2021-2022, the first in the country conducted approbation of domestic microspheres "Sphere-Spectrum" for embolization and chemoembolization of tumor vessels of various localizations.

    Another aspect of scientific activity is directed at the treatment evaluation of selective chemotherapy.
    Increase of number of interventions for tumors of the head and neck, selective embolization of prostate arteries in adenomas is planned in the nearest future. Introduction of new techniques – stenting of peripheral arteries, coronary stenting, stenting of carotid arteries for hospitalized patients.
    Preoperative placement of stent grafts in arteries in cases of tumor invasion. Preoperative stenting of the main vessels with stent grafts.
    Introduction of new methods of X-ray endovascular treatment in neuro-oncology, onco-gynecology and breast cancer.
